2014 Blogger Challenge Topic #3 - Once Upon a Time...

Once again, it's time for another topic for the 2014 blogger challenge, and I have to say, I am loving the diversity of topics that challenge coordinator, Gaby from Another Girly Blog, is giving us. This one centers on a favorite or least favorite book.

I have to be honest here, I don't have just one book that I love and I honestly can't think of one I dislike. I've had a love affair with reading since I was old enough to do so. And it was my love of reading that sparked my passion for writing.

But in the interest of sticking to the task at hand, I decided to chose the book that helped change my life by starting me on the path to a greener, cleaner life. It also fits in with my blog theme, so there is that too! ;-)

"Gorgeously Green" written by Sophie Uliano, offers a simple 8 step program to help you begin to live a greener, more eco-friendly lifestyle.

Each chapter covers topics ranging from skincare/beauty to health and fitness to cleaning products and kitchenware.

I first found this book about four years ago, when health issues had forced me to start taking a closer look at what I was putting in and on my body. Since I was so new to the whole "green" lifestyle, I had no clue how to begin and this book really helped me to formulate a "plan of attack".

Reading this book forced me to take a hard look at what was in my cupboards, medicine cabinet, vanity and make up drawers. I can honestly say that it was a little difficult at first to part with some of my favorite brands, but the more I learned about what goes into them, the easier it became to let go.

I also learned how to make wiser choices with food, and even cleaning supplies. And it was through this book I first learned of Ayurveda, which in a round about way, led me to raw foods and skincare, and in turn led me farther down the path of total healing.

Even today, now a much more "seasoned" greenie, I still reference this for tips, recipes, etc..And even if you are not looking to detoxify your life or home, there are still some great food recipes, fitness tips, money saving tips and DIY's.

Have you ever read Gorgeously Green? What tips for a green life would interest you most?

Peace and Love,
~Sabrina
