Product Obsession: Dr. J Organics Organic C Powder Kit

DrJ Organics is a California based company that manufactures personal care products for medical doctors, skin professionals and also for home use. They strive to produce the safest, most potent and effective natural and organic skin and hair care products available.

Wherever possible, they use renewable resources as well as ecologically sound manufacturing practices to minimize their carbon footprint. Their products are not "watered down" and do not contain phthalates, gluten, parabens, petrolatum or other harmful ingredients.

I was fortunate to be able to try their Organic C-Powder Kit and today I am going to share my experience with it and thoughts on it.

We all know that vitamin C is great for brightening skin and promoting collagen production. It's an amazing ingredient for keeping skin healthy, youthful and glowing. However, as wonderful as this ingredient may be, it can be unstable in certain forms and can also oxidize when exposed to air, thus rendering it ineffective while also creating free radicals in the body. Eeek!

What I love about Dr. J's vitamin C product is that it is in a powder form, making it more potent, while avoiding the issue of oxidation as it is prepared "fresh" before you use it. This is essentially a DIY serum that you create mixing the C powder with the accompanying activator. This activator is loaded with good for your skin ingredients such as Licorice Root Extract, Black and Green Tea Leaf Extracts, Chamomile and various fruit extracts.

Once the activator is mixed with the vitamin C powder, just shake the mixture until no powder is visible on the bottom of the vial and apply a few drops to clean skin like you would any serum.

One word of caution - if you have sensitive skin, this will sting! It only lasts a second or two, and once you apply your nighttime oil or moisturizer (it's recommended to use this at night), the "stinging" feeling goes away completely.

That little tidbit out of the way, I do love how clear, bright, smooth and glowing my skin looks the next morning after using this. And though the price may be quite steep for the average gal (or guy), if you can afford this, I highly recommend you try it. You won't be disappointed with the results!

One vial should last about 2-3 weeks.

Price - $130 for 4 vials + activator

From the Sea of Galilee and Inspired by Nature - Lavido Skincare Review

Lavido is a natural face and body care company based on the use of raw, organic plant oils and ingredients that are combined with volcanic thermal springs as well as purified waters from the Sea of Galilee. Interestingly, these waters, used since Roman times, have both healing and recuperative properties. It was this special ingredient that sparked my interest in this brand the most.

What started as a baby cream in the kitchen of founder Ido Magal has since grown into a global business. And not only are the best raw ingredients continually sourced, but Lavido also incorporates the most top notch and cutting edge technologies into their formulations.

Let's take a look at some of these lovely products:

1) Pomegranate Seed Oil, Lemon and Macadamia Gentle Exfoliator Cream - Formulated with oyster shell powder, organic Pomegrante peel, cold pressed Pomegrante Seed and Citrus Oils, this exfoliating cream gently sloughs off dead skin cells, while also leaving your skin soft and revitalized. I'm a sucker for a good exfoliating product and this one definitely hits all the right notes for me. The texture is kind of a "grainy creamy" consistency, but without being too abrasive for my skin (though if you have extremely sensitive skin or rosacea, this may be a bit too harsh for you) and the scent I find to be quite pleasant due to the Lavender Oil used. This product also doubles as a face mask, and with skin healing ingredients like Black Cumin Seed Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Vitamin E, this has really helped keep pesky blemishes at bay.

Price - $34

2) Evening Primrose Seed, Calendula and Frankincense Ultra Daily Moisture Cream - Rich in Omega 6 acids, vitamins and cold pressed Evening Primrose Seed Oil, this lovely moisturizer soothes and hydrates skin. It also contains Geranium Oil to balance skin, Calendula to soothe, Patchouli, Frankincense and Lavender Oils to rejuvenate and Aloe Vera Leaf Juice to heal. The texture is lightweight and non-greasy, yet deeply nourishes. A little goes a long way, so this will last quite a while. :-)

Price - $39

3) Bulgarian Lavender, Evening Primrose and Avocado Oil Nurturing Hand Cream -  I've never really been one to get excited about hand products, until I tried this one. It's light, silky texture glides on and absorbs quickly and completely, leaving hands super soft, without feeling greasy. It's lightly scented with Lavender, which is calming and soothing to the senses. This will definitely be kept by me to use throughout the day, especially now that the weather is getting cooler and drier!

Price - $13

My overall thoughts: I was quite impressed by all three of these products. I loved the textures, the subtle and pleasant scents, as well as their performance. If I had any complaint at all it would be the use of Phenoxyethanol in the exfoliator and the face cream as I do try and avoid this ingredient whenever I can. I also wished that they included the full ingredients list on the website, which would make it easier for people to see if there is anything in the products that may cause an allergic reaction (or if you're an ingredient nerd like me and just want to know everything that's in it). That's just my two cents. ;-) Other than that, I think this is a wonderful brand, with beautiful products that is more than worth checking out!

The Halloween Tag!

Happy Halloween loves! In honor of one of my absolute favorite holidays, I thought it would be fun to do this tag that Tianna from Storybook Apothecary included me in for today's post! :-)

  1. What’s your favorite Halloween movie? That's a tough one...I don't think I can pick just one, but I always look forward to watching "Hocus Pocus", "The Nightmare Before Christmas", the classics (Dracula, The Wolfman, etc.) and of course, "Halloween" is a must watch for me!
  2. What age did you stop trick-or-treating? I want to say sometime in High School, but I don't remember exactly..
  3. Favorite Halloween costume you’ve ever dressed up as? That's hard to say...my mom always made me the best costumes, including a Red Riding Hood with the wolf's head in my basket. This was back in the 90's before that version of the costume became so popular.
  4. Will you dress up this year? If yes, as what? I'm wearing one of my themed Halloween tees and make up...that's me dressed up..lol
  5. Do you enjoy haunted attractions?  Yes, definitely! I haven't been to any in years, but I always enjoyed them.
  6. Vampires or Werewolves? Vampires..werewolves creep me out depending on which transformation you go with - the man-wolf creatures scare me..the big wolves, I actually think are cool.
  7. Do you prefer to make or buy your costume? If I had the time, I would make my costumes, but last year I purchased one.
  8. Michael Myers or Freddie Kruger? If not for Will Smith's "A Nightmare on my Street" song which made Freddie comical, I'd say him. The first movie still creeps me out. However, there is something really terrifying about the more human "monsters", especially the ones that never speak and never seem to want to die. So I say Michael Myers.
  9. Favorite Halloween candy? Oh gosh, Snickers, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Candy Corn, Peanut M&M's..the list can go on...
  10. Do you decorate your house for Halloween? I don't. I do have some pumpkin themed decor around my house though if that counts...
  11. Halloween costumes that you dislike/hate? I recently saw one for a sexy ebola nurse...really? Very poor taste.
  12. Have you ever repeated a costume? What was it? My Red Riding Hood costume. I wore it to a party and also to work.
  13. Do you believe in ghosts? I believe in demonic spirits, but not ghosts.
  14. Do you enjoy scary movies? Definitely! Watching one right now - "The Crazies"..really creepy!
  15. Favorite Halloween treat that isn’t store-bought candy? Anything pumpkin!
  16. Favorite way to spend Halloween day/night? I love to spend the day watching horror movies and then gorging myself on Halloween candy after dinner..and of course more scary movies with my hubby!

How are you spending your Halloween? I'd love to know!

Peace & Love,
~Sabrina xx

Natural Deodorants That Work - Blissoma's New Formulas

Ever since I stopped using conventional deodorants, I've been on the search for the most effective natural sticks/sprays that I could find. I'll be honest, it hasn't been easy. And though I know that are still many I need to check out (including giving cream formulas a try), I was really excited to be asked to test the newly formulated deodorants by Blissoma.

If you've never heard of this amazing brand, you need to get yourself acquainted pronto!

"Blissoma is the elegant marriage of herbal form and function, created by the explorative mind of a scientific artist. When right brain meets left the result is botanical innovations that really work."

Blissoma's products are created using the most potent natural active ingredients there are, which are based on nutrients, antioxidants and phytochemistry. Essentially, these ingredients are one step away from the original plant matter from which they came. Awesome, no?

And of course, because I've had my "green beauty eye" on them for quite some time, I was super anxious to start using these new deodorants!

1) Juniper Natural Deodorant Aromatic Spray -  What I like most about this spray is that it dries quickly after application and lasts a long time. It also doesn't irritate my under arms after I've shaved, which is a huge plus for me! The scent is both citrusy and woodsy, but not overpowering and can work for both men and women. As for the odor busting performance - the combination of ingredients such as fennel, black cumin seed oil, as well as the inclusion of Triethyl Citrate (which works to inhibit the enzymatic breakdown of sweat into parts that have an odor) ensure that your pits stay stink free all day! Oh, and no worries about stains on your clothes with this product either! :-)

Product Features
  • Completely updated NEW formulation!
  • Sprayable, mild and effective natural deodorant
  • Juniper scent with green tea, fennel and black cumin
  • No aluminum or antiperspirant ingredients
  • Approximately 400 sprays per bottle
  • 2.5 oz portable aluminum bottle for purse, gym bag or travel

Price - $14.99
Ingredients -  Infusion of Foeniculum vulgare* (fennel) and Camellia sinensis* (green tea), Hamamelis virginiana* (witch hazel), Ricinus communis (Castor) Oil*, Triethyl Citrate (Ecocert approved natural ester of citric acid), Glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) Extract*, Populus Tremuloides (Aspen) Bark Extract, Grain Alcohol*+, Glyceryl Caprylate/Caprate, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) Oil*, Nigella sativa (black cumin seed) Oil*,Essential oils of Cedrus atlantica (cedarwood), Juniperus communis (juniper), Citrus reticulata (mandarin), Cymbopogon martinii (palmarosa), Litsea cubeba, Pogostemon cablin (patchouli), and Elettaria cardamomum (cardamom), Cetearyl Alcohol and Cetearyl Glucoside, Xanthan Gum, Gluconolactone essential oils in this product contain: limonene**, linalool**, citronellol**, geraniol**
*from Certified Organic Agriculture
**natural components of essential oils

2) Scentless Stick Mini Solid Natural Deodorant -  The thing I want to address first about this product is the texture. It is dry and slightly "gritty" (probably from the Baking Soda?), so to get this to go on smoothly, I recommend holding it under your arm for a few seconds to let your body heat warm it up a bit, then swipe it on. With that being said, this does a fantastic job of combating odor all day and when used in conjunction with the spray deodorant, it's twice as powerful. As for the ingredients - Baking Soda helps keep odor at bay, while Bentonite Clay helps eliminate toxins from the body and Diatomaceous Earth and Organic Arrowroot Powder absorb sweat. And no worries if you are sensitive to Baking Soda - this formula uses about half the amount found in most other products, yet still retains its efficacy. All in all, I really liked this and thinks it works better at odor control than most of the other natural sticks I have tried.

Product Features
  • Stick format natural deodorant
  • Unscented recipe with mango butter, clay, zinc and baking soda
  • No antiperspirant ingredients
  • Approximately 3 weeks of daily use per mini stick
  • .75 oz dial up stick for no mess, no fingers application

Price - $8.99
Ingredients - Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), Helianthus annuus (sunflower) Oil*, Mangifera indica (mango) Butter, Diatomaceous Earth, Bentonite, Maranta arundinacea (Arrowroot) powder*, Zinc Oxide, Ricinus communis (Castor) Oil*, Euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, Cocos nucifera (coconut) Oil*
*from Certified Organic Agriculture

*Products were generously sent to me to test and review, however, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

Have you tried Blissoma's new deodorant formulas yet? What are your thoughts? What is your favorite natural deodorant?

Product Obsession: Stress & Pain Relief from Ann Bee's Naturals

Ann Bee's Naturals is an eco-friendly company located in Fair Hill, MD that offers cruelty free, biodegradable and non-GMO products that you can feel good about using.

With the continuing concern consumers have about what they are putting on their skin growing every year, it's both exciting and reassuring to see companies like this that take that concern to heart.

What prompted owner Ann Barczewski to create Ann Bee's Naturals was twofold - while recovering from knee surgery, her daughter's day care provider moved out of state, forcing Ann to resign from her job. Since her daughter requires special needs (she was diagnosed with epilepsy), Ann needed to care for her full time. During this time, her daughter was put on the Ketogenic Diet, which eventually helped her to become seizure free. This was the beginning of Ann's awakening to natural products and the start of her own company.

When Ann reached out to me to review some of her products, I was more than happy to oblige. Part of what I love about blogging is not only sharing new natural products and brands, but the stories behind them as well.

And Ann's story touched me, for obvious reasons, but also because it gave me renewed hope that I too can someday be free from the health issues that plague me.

Speaking of...a few of the issues I have been dealing with are adrenal fatigue, hormonal imbalance, stress, depression, as well as continued back and neck pains. Somehow I think Ann must have known, because she sent me several products to help me deal with those issues!

Here is what she kindly sent...

1) Neroli Essential Mist - One of my favorite essential oils of all time is Neroli, so I was excited to see that a few of these products I was sent contained it. Besides its sweet, intoxicating floral scent, the health benefits of Neroli are numerous. Not only is it great for battling depression and anxiety, but it is a potent bactericidal, can protect against colds and flu viruses, helps to keep skin smooth and clear, and is a powerful aphrodisiac to name a few. I like to mist this in my bedroom before I go to sleep, as well as on my sheets and pillow. I've been sleeping more deeply than I have in a very long time!

Price - $9.95
Ingredients - Water, Witch Hazel, Neroli EO (Keto friendly, Vegan)

2) Stress Relief Aromatherapy Inhaler - I have always been a fan of Lavender - in skincare, as a sleep aid and for pain relief. So it's no surprise that its calming properties have been just as effective as a stress reliever as well. And when combined with the uplifting scent of Bergamot, this inhaler really does a great job of soothing and relaxing me even when I am at my most stressed.

Price - $7.95
Ingredients - Organic Bergamot and Organic Lavender Essential Oils

3) Stress Relief Roll-On - Using the same calming and uplifting oils as in the Stress Relief Inhaler, but with the added bonus of Neroli Essential Oil, this roll on induces the same de-stressing effect, but also can double as a perfume as well. I am truly addicted to this!

Price - $16.95
Ingredients - Organic Jojoba, Organic Neroli EO, Organic Bergamot EO, Organic Lavender EO

4) Arnica Boswellia Salve -  In addition to back pain, I recently have been having pain in my right wrist and this has been helping with that issue as well. This little miracle in a tin contains Arnica, a highly potent anti-inflammatory, Boswellia, which provides similar results as NSAIDS do, and a combination of other powerful anti-inflammatory essential oils, like Ginger, Spearmint and Eucalyptus. I can't imagine not having this in my medicine cabinet from now on!

Price - $6.95
Ingredients -  Organic Olive Oil infused with Organic Arnica, Boswellia, White Willow Bark, Organic Unrefined Beeswax, Essential Oils of Ginger, Eucalyptus, Spearmint, Rosemary, Juniper, Vetiver and Chamomile

5) Orange Rosewood Body Soap - This beautiful and therapeutic soap smells both sweet and spicy, thanks to the use of Orange, Rosewood and Clove essential oils, which also work together to uplift your spirits. The combination of these oils have been known to help with such issues as SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), PMS or menopausal related mood swings, stress headaches as well as nausea. Rosewood and Clove are both also highly effective in treating skin issues such as acne. And if that is not enough to entice you, this soap is highly moisturizing and leaves skin baby soft!

Price - $7.45
Ingredients - Saponified Oils of Olive, Canola (Non-GMO), Coconut, Palm (Renewable Source), Water, Orange EO, Rosewood EO, Clove EO, Rhassoul Clay, Madder Root

My overall thoughts: I have always been a strong advocate for natural remedies, as I personally believe that nature has everything that we need to fully heal what ails us. Ann Bee's Naturals truly understands this. Their products are created with thoughtfulness and care as well as a respect for the ingredients used and the benefits they bring. Since using these products, I have felt a renewed sense of peace, better sleep, and less discomfort in my back, wrist and neck. I know that with continued usage, I will keep feeling better.

Have you ever tried Ann Bee's Naturals? What are your thoughts?

"Andalou Naturals embodies beauty in action. We infuse the best of nature and knowledge into mindful and effective products that are good for people and the planet."

If you love the intoxicating and sweet scent of roses and have sensitive skin (and even if you don't), you will definitely love these products! Let's check them out!

“What goes on your body, goes in your body. Choose Non-GMO.”

1) Pearl Exfoliator -  This extremely gentle exfoliant is made with 100% natural Jojoba beads, that won't scratch or irritate your skin. In fact, I've been using it daily since it is so gentle! It's also formulated with Rose Alpine Stem Cells, as well as Rosewater, Rose Essential Oils and a special skin soothing complex (made up of Hyaluronic Acid, Magnolia Bark, Boswellin, and Date Leaf Extracts) which all work to keep skin soft, supple, hydrated, and calm.

Price - $14.95
Ingredients - Aloe Barbadensis Juice*, Rosa Damascena (Rose) Distillate*, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Juice*, Vegetable Glycerin, Pectin, Cyamopsis Tetragonolobus (Guar) Gum*, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) and Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Oils*, Allantoin, Jojoba Esters, PhytoCellTec (Alpine Rose, Malus Domestsica, Solar Vitis) and BioActive 8 Berry Complex*, Soothing Complex: [Hyaluronic Acid, Magnolia Officinalis Bark, Phoenix Dactylifera (Date) Leaf Cell and Boswellia Serrata (Boswellin) Extracts], Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5), Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) and Hibiscus Sabdariffa Extracts*†, Mannitol, Cellulose, Hypromellose, Iron Oxides, Phenethyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citrus Tangerina (Tangerine) and Pelargonium Graveolens (Rose Geranium) Oils*, Rosa Centifolia (Rose) Oil
Non-GMO verified    *Organic    † Fair Trade

2) Beautiful Day Cream (sample, not pictured) - I only received a small sample of this in my package, but it was enough for me to know that I really, really like this moisturizer. The texture, which is very satiny, leaves a matte finish, yet still feels quite hydrating. It also didn't break me out, which is always a plus! Since it was only a sample, I didn't notice much of a difference in my skin, but I will probably end up purchasing the full size because what I did try of it, I liked a lot.

Price - $24.95
Ingredients - Aloe Barbadensis Juice*, Vegetable Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Biosaccharide Gum, Allantoin, Olive Squalane, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) and Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Oils*, PhytoCellTec (Alpine Rose, Malus Domestsica, Solar Vitis) and BioActive 8 Berry Complex*, Soothing Complex: [Hyaluronic Acid, Magnolia Officinalis Bark, Phoenix Dactylifera (Date) Leaf Cell and Boswellia Serrata (Boswellin) Extracts], Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5), Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Lecithin, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch*, Grapeseed Polyphenols, Rosa Damascena (Rose) Distillate*, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Juice*, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) and Aspalathus Linearis (Rooibos) Extracts*†, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Phenethyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citrus Tangerina (Tangerine) and Pelargonium Graveolens (Rose Geranium) Oils*, Rosa Centifolia (Rose) Oil
Non-GMO verified    *Organic    † Fair Trade

3) Heavenly Night Cream - This is without a doubt, my new favorite night time moisturizer! It is rich, without being heavy or greasy, yet is deeply moisturizing and makes my skin look more radiant when I wake up in the morning! It helps that super nourishing and brightening ingredients like Shea Butter, Rosehip and Pomegranate Oils and Vitamin C are among those that are used, as well as their special Bioactive 8 Berry Complex (a potent combination of superfruit antioxidants to fight evironmental damage, support cell regeneration and strengthen skin immunity). My skin has been smoother, clearer and brighter since using this nightly. Love!!

Price - $24.95
Ingredients - Aloe Barbadensis Juice*, Glyceryl Stearate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Oil*, Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Cetearyl Alcohol, PhytoCellTec (Alpine Rose, Malus Domestsica, Solar Vitis) and BioActive 8 Berry Complex*, Soothing Complex: [Hyaluronic Acid, Magnolia Officinalis Bark, Phoenix Dactylifera (Date) Leaf Cell and Boswellia Serrata (Boswellin) Extracts], Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Juice*, Stearic Acid, Glycine Soja (Soy) Protein, Biosaccharide Gum, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*†, Bisabolol, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) and Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Oils*, Lecithin, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C), Rosa Damascena (Rose) Distillate*, Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5), Allantoin, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) and Aspalathus Linearis (Rooibos) Extracts*†, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Phenethyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citrus Tangerina (Tangerine) and Pelargonium Graveolens (Rose Geranium) Oils*, Rosa Centifolia (Rose) Oil
Non-GMO verified    *Organic    † Fair Trade

4) Color & Correct Sheer Nude SPF 30 -  I've really gotten into the whole BB and CC creams lately and this is one of my favorites of all time. Though the coverage is much less than what I need ( I do need to use a powder foundation over it), it matches my skin tone pretty well and feels amazing on my skin. It provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection without the use of nano-particles or toxic chemicals. And as with the other three products I tried, the ingredients in this CC cream are nourishing, healing, soothing, firming and brightening. This will definitely remain a staple in my beauty collection!

Price - $19.95
Ingredients - Aloe Barbadensis Juice*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) and Helianthus Annuus (Sun ower) Oils*, Sorbitan Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, PhytoCellTec (Alpine Rose, Malus Domestsica, Solar Vitis) and BioActive 8 Berry Complex*, Soothing Complex: [Hyaluronic Acid, Magnolia Of cinalis Bark, Phoenix Dactylifera (Date) Leaf Cell and Boswellia Serrata (Boswellin) Extracts], Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Rosa Damascena (Rose) Distillate*, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) and Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Oils*, Algae and Cucumis Melo (Melon) Extracts, Iron Oxide, Magnesium Sulfate, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch*, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea), Aspalathus Linearis (Rooibos) and Hibiscus Sabdariffa Extracts*†, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Phenethyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Pelargonium Graveolens (Rose Geranium) Oil*, Rosa Centifolia (Rose) Oil
Non-GMO verified    *Organic    † Fair Trade

My overall thoughts: I am a fan of anything rose or rose scented, and these products smell like heaven to me! The scent is subtle, but is just enough to evoke a sense of serenity and happiness for me. I love the ingredients, and I love that Andalou Naturals combines the best of nature and advanced science to create safe and effective products that are also highly affordable! Their name means "path of light" and I believe that it truly reflects their intentions to bring beautiful, eco-friendly,  and healing products into the world.

Brand Obsession - Celtic Complexion

If you follow the beautiful Stephanie Deline from She's So Eco, then you have undoubtedly heard her profess her love for Celtic Complexion Skincare.

Since I trust that everything Stephanie recommends will be awesome, and after reading up on it, I knew I needed to try this brand!!

What makes this brand so special, you ask?

Well, first of all, each product is lovingly and thoughtfully hand made using the purest and highest quality of ingredients -  which also happen to be wild crafted, certified organic, kosher and raw vegan.

Secondly, not only does founder and owner Jennifer Devlin Waller truly understand skin issues, having suffered from rosacea since her 20’s, she uses her experience to create amazingly effective products that work to heal those issues. Honestly, since using her products, my skin has never been more calm, nourished, and glowy.  Oh, and did I mention?  She’s drop-dead gorgeous to boot!  You would never know that this lovely lady ever experienced something like rosacea!

Jennifer was kind enough to send me the Love Your Skin Travel Kit and I'd like to share not only what products came in it, but also why they are so darn spectacular!

"Organic skincare made with the finest raw ingredients that have been safely used for centuries, and once available only to wealthy aristocrats, and traded like gold..."

1) Coconut Creme Cleanser - This rich, decadent cleanser made me a cream cleanser convert in just one use! From the scent to the texture to the way it makes my skin feel after rinsing it off, I am completely hooked. You only need a dime sized amount to remove make-up and impurities, and if your skin is feeling a tad on the dry side, Jennifer suggests first applying a bit of raw coconut oil before using the cleanser for extra hydration. I think it is safe to say that I see myself entering into a long term relationship with this cleanser!

Price - $39.95
Ingredients Organic aloe juice, organic coconut oil, organic green tea extract, cetearyl olivate, sorbitan olivate, certyl palmitate, organic olive oil, xanthan gum, palm stearic acid, essential oils of ylang ylang, lavender, rosewood, tangerine and bergamont.

2) Gentle Creme Exfoliant - Micro-sized Jojoba beads provide gentle exfoliation that even the most delicate skin will appreciate. With oils like Coconut, Olive, and Avocado to nourish and hydrate, Aloe to soothe and Rooibos Tea Extract to provide powerful anti-oxidant benefits, this creamy exfoliant pampers and softens skin like none I have ever tried.

Price - $39.95

3) Calming Serum - This serum is perfect for those who are super sensitive, acne prone, suffering from rosacea or even sun burn. Created with the most healing and soothing essential oils as well as the richest sources of essential fatty acids, this serum works to reduce redness, inflammation, and sensitivity, while bathing the skin in vital nutrients. As someone who is acne prone, this has definitely helped to keep breakouts and redness at bay!

Price - $69.95 or $12 (travel size)
Ingredients - Fractionated coconut oil, German chamomile oil, neroli oil, lavender oil, evening primrose oil, borage seed oil.

4) Youth Infusion 7 High Potency Serum -  There is a reason why this serum is considered to be the crown jewel of the Celtic Complexion skincare collection - it's bottled perfection, plain and simple. Containing rare and precious essential oils like Indian Sandalwood, Frankincense, Indian Rose and Bulgarian Rose, skin is rejuvenated and transformed at the cellular level. The sweet scent of rose both uplifts and calms my senses and my skin feels so amazingly pampered when I use this. Though I've only been using a trial size, and I know the full size will provide greater benefits, I still feel my skin has improved in this short amount of time. If anything, it is calmer, and much more hydrated, which in turn makes it look younger!

Price - $97.50 or $17 (travel size)
Ingredients - Fractionated coconut oil, carrot seed oil, Indian rose oil, Indian sandalwood oil, frankincense oil, borage seed oil, evening primrose oil, Bulgarian rose oil.

5) Vida de Fleur Liquid Moisturizer -  Thicker than the other serums, this "liquid moisturizer" is the one to reach for when your skin is feeling particularly thirsty. It contains Squalane oil (from vegetarian sources of course!) which helps to hydrate as well as balance skin, making this perfect for my oily yet dry complexion. Use under the Celtic Complexion Creme for an even bigger moisture boost.

Price - $69.95 or $23 (travel size)
Ingredients - Squalane oil (derived from vegetarian sources), evening primrose oil, jasmine grandiflorum, jasmine sambac.

6) Celtic Complexion Creme - Ok, I'll admit that I was a little worried that this moisturizer was going to be a bit too heavy for me when I first heard about it. However, even though this is super concentrated (as it doesn't contain water), it imparts just the right amount of moisture as well as absorbing deeply into skin without any kind of greasy feel. My skin was left soft, and glowing and just plain radiant from using this! I also love that I need only a teensy, teensy amount to make my skin look so good!

Price - $69.95 or $18 (travel size)
Ingredients - Certified organic shea butter, certified organic raw coconut oil, certified golden jojoba oil, certified organic vegetable glycerin oil, vanilla extract, carrot seed oil, sandalwood oil, grapefruit oil, tea tree oil.

7) Tinted Moisturizer SPF 31 in Light - What I love about this product, besides that it provides non-toxic broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection, is that the coverage is adjustable depending on how you apply it. I like to apply this with my (clean) fingertips for full coverage, but if you prefer a more medium or sheer look you can use a foundation brush or beauty blender. I also love the color, which is the perfect light neutral for my skin. It blends seamlessly and doesn't feel heavy or greasy, but since my skin has a tendency to become shiny during the day, I do use a mineral or setting powder over this. This has become another "can't live without" product for me!

Price - $59.95 or $15 (travel size)
Ingredients - 25% zinc oxide, artesian spring water, cert. organic organic jojoba oil, cert organic extra virgin olive oil, organic shea butter, vegetable glycerin, vegetable emulsifying wax, vegetable vitamin e, iron oxide.

8) Lip Balm - I was also sent a lip balm, and though it is not listed as part of the kit and I couldn't seem to find it on the website, I wanted to share it as well. As a bona fide lip balm fiend, I actually did a little happy dance when I saw this in my kit. Sad, maybe, but I don't care. This little lip treat deserves a happy dance. Flavored with the refreshing coolness of peppermint combined with the tangy citrus of lemongrass, plus the nourishing oils of Hempseed and Grapeseed  lips are left super soft and kissable.

Ingredients - beeswax, certified organic hempseed oil, grapeseed oil, evening primrose oil, calendela oil, rosemary extract, comfrey oil, cupuacu butter, vitamin E, essential oils

My overall thoughts - Jennifer clearly not only puts her heart and soul into her products, but she has created a skincare line that truly produces results. Try it for yourself and see!

Product Obsession: Saint Francis Organics

The story behind Saint Francis Organics is one that is often heard, yet still always manages to affect me - health issues with oneself or a loved one instills a desire to create a product or brand that would offer clean, safe, natural products as an alternative to all of the toxic ones out there on the market.

Read more about their story here.

In a perfect world, all brands and products would be non-toxic and safe, however, we don't live in a perfect world, so we need to grab onto and support the brands that truly do make our health and the protection of our environment a priority.

When a company contacts me to review their products, the first thing I do is to check out their website and see what they are all about and what ingredients they use. What I liked about this brand right at first glance, besides the ingredients, was the fact that they are Non-GMO, vegan, gluten free, hypoallergenic, recyclable, biodegradable and cruelty free.

Obviously, I agreed to test their wares! Here is what I received!

1) Natural/Organic Shampoo -  Two things I found that were really unique about this shampoo was that freshly brewed organic green tea was used instead of water, and soap nuts were used as the foaming agent over harsh sulfates. Soap nuts, also called soap berries, are a natural surfactant found in India and Nepal and have anti-microbial, anti-fungal and antibacterial properties. They are also hypoallergenic and have been used to treat dermatological issues. What I loved about this shampoo is how little I needed to use and that it left my hair feeling clean and not oily or "filmy". The citrus scent is quite uplifting as well, so this will help to "get your motor running" in the mornings!

Price - $19.50
Ingredients -  *Organic Green Tea, Decyl Glucoside, Vegetable Glycerin, Hickory Bark Extract,  Organic Soap Berry, Panthenol (Vitamin B-5), * Organic Cucumber Fruit Extract, *Organic Avocado Fruit Extract, * Organic Mango Fruit Extract, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Citric Acid * Certified Organic

2) Natural/Organic Conditioner - I absolutely loved this conditioner! I've had a love/hate relationship with some of the natural conditioners out there lately, most being either too thick/greasy or too thin/watery. This one, as the story goes, was just right! Ingredients like Avocado, Shea Butter and Coconut Oil make this conditioner creamy, nourishing and just rich enough while leaving my hair super soft and silky. Love this!

Price - $18.50
Ingredients - * Camellia Sinesis (Green Tea), Cetearyl Alcohol, Behenyl Alcohol, Carya Ovata (Hickory) Bark Extract, Vegetable Glycerin, Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate, * Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Panthenol (Vitamin B-5), * Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Extract, * Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, * Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Fruit Extract, * Mangifera Indica (Mango) Fruit Extract, * Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), * Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, * Tapioca Starch, * Cocos Nucifera (Coconut Oil), Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride. *Certified Organic

3) USDA Organic Body Wash -  This is not your average body wash..I would say it is more like a body oil that happens to lather and that you rinse off, but that keeps your skin supremely hydrated afterwards. With ingredients like Coconut, Olive, and Jojoba Oils as well as Shea and Cocoa Seed Butters, to name a few, it's no wonder my skin felt so darn moisturized after showering.

Price - $16.50
Ingredients - *Organic Green Tea, *Organic Coconut Oil, *Organic Olive Oil, *Organic Shea Butter, *Organic Jojoba Seed Oil, *Organic Sunflower Seed Oil, *Organic Cocoa Seed Butter, Vegetable Glycerin, *Organic Avocado, *Organic Mango, *Organic Cucumber, *Organic Lavender oil, *Organic Bergamot oil, *Organic Orange oil, Vitamin E, Guar Gum, Citric Acid

4) Natural/Organic Body Lotion - This rich, silky lotion left my skin baby soft and lightly scented with the subtle fragrance of peppermint with a hint of vanilla. Deeply hydrating Sweet Almond Oil, Avocado Fruit Extract and Shea Butter kept my skin feeling nourished all day.

Price - $19.50

Essential Oils of: *Organic Orange Oil, *Organic Lime Oil, *Organic Lavender Oil, *Organic Bergamot Oil, *Organic Orange Oil, *Organic Peppermint Oil, *Organic Vanilla. * Certified Organic

5) USDA Organic Hand Soap - As someone who washes her hands A LOT, it's hard to keep them from getting dry and cracked at times (also I forget or am too lazy to put on some hand lotion..I know, I know!), so finding a hand soap that won't make my hands feel like the Sahara Desert is a must. Made with Castile Soap and several moisturizing organic oils and butters, this product is the solution to my problem. My hands stayed soft with no lotion needed!

Price - $12.50
Ingredients - *Organic Green Tea, *Organic Coconut Oil, *Organic Olive Oil, *Organic Shea Butter, *Organic Jojoba Seed Oil, *Organic Sunflower Seed Oil, Vegetable Glycerin, *Organic Cucumber, *Organic Avocado, *Organic Mango, Vitamin E, Guar Gum, Citric Acid, Essential oils of: *Organic Lavender Oil, *Organic Bergamot Oil, *Organic Orange Oil. * Certified Organic

My overall thoughts: I was quite impressed with the quality and performance of these products. I will be honest and say that the scent of the shampoo was not my favorite, but I tend to prefer more fruity/floral scents for shampoo. I did, however, love the peppermint/vanilla scents of the conditioner and body lotion, as well as the lavender fragrance of the hand soap. All in all, I think that Saint Francis Organics is a company worth checking out!
