Sun Love With Block Island Organics!

If you've been following my blog, you know what a sunscreen fanatic I am! Rain or shine, indoors or out, you can be sure I am wearing some form of spf!

Since the Summer season brings sunscreen out front and center, and since I am always on the hunt for different natural sunscreen products, I was beyond thrilled when Block Island Organics contacted me to review their product!

What I love about this brand is that they are dedicated to not only creating safe and effective products, but also to educating consumers as well as being completely transparent with their ingredients. You can learn more here.

What I tried:

Sunscreen, Shades and a Non-GMO Beer - perfect companions on a hot Summer day! ;-)

Natural Mineral Sunscreen Spf 30 - There are always certain things that I look for in a sunscreen. It has to be lightweight, non-greasy, leave no white cast, go on easily and absorb quickly, be cruelty free, eco-friendly and of course contain zero harmful ingredients that can break me out! I know that seems like a tall order, and I'm not always successful in finding a product that meets all of my criteria, but I think I may have in this product!

Though the texture may seem a bit on the thick side at first, it really does feel light on the skin when applied. It blends easily and absorbs quickly, leaving a nice, matte finish, so it is a perfect primer for my oily skin! It contains Zinc Oxide as the UV filter, which also has antibacterial properties, making it great for acne prone skin. Other skin loving ingredients include Aloe Vera Gel, Shea Butter, Glycerin and Jojoba Oil.

Product Obsession: Sun Love from Annmarie Gianni Skincare

One of the products that I will never, ever be without is sun protection. I started using it religiously at the age of 18, after dermabrasion had left my skin extremely photo-sensitive, and I just never stopped incorporating it into my daily skincare routine.

So, I was incredibly excited when one of my favorite skincare companies, Annmarie Gianni Skincare, came out with their own sunscreen product, appropriately called, Sun Love!

There are sooo many reasons to love this product that it's hard to even know where to begin!

The very first thing I noticed about this product was that it was a tinted moisturizer and not the usual white color my other sunscreens have. I was a bit worried that it would be too dark for my uber pale skin, but once I blended it in, it was pretty seamless. :-)

Forgive my "pruney" hands, I had just washed the dishes and hadn't applied my hand cream yet!

The next thing I noticed was the scent. I love anything that smells like chocolate and this smells like the most decadent chocolate dessert. It was so tempting to just devour the bottle!

I was also impressed how well this absorbed into my skin, without being greasy, as well as how natural the tint looks once it is blended. This is the perfect solution for those looking for an effective, natural sunscreen moisturizer with a little color. For me, and my skin, I do need a little extra coverage, but if you don't need or feel like wearing full make up, this is your new BFF.

As for the actual sun protection part, zinc oxide ( transparent with no harmful nano-spheres), herbs and oils are what's used. I'm a huge fan of using plant oils to protect my skin from UV damage, so this is another win in my book!

All in all, I have been very happy with the sample I was sent and will definitely look to purchase the full size once I run out.
