Matcha: Your Guide To This Wonder Tea!
~This post was submitted to TBE
You might have heard of the new wonder tea that just about everybody is trying these days. No, it’s not green tea. Health and fitness experts have been drinking green tea for ages in the hopes that everybody else will catch on. It’s matcha! Now, although matcha has been around for a while, it’s only just hit the mainstream. This guide will tell you a bit more about it and why you should drink it!
The History of Matcha
Matcha tea is an ancient Japanese tea. It’s been around since the 12th century in Japan, when monks used to drink it to help them expand their awareness. The tea soon became consumed by people outside of monk colonies, and it has been a well-kept secret ever since. It is pure green tea powder, making your drink a very deep green in colour.
Why You Should Drink Matcha
There are so many reasons you should give matcha go, as its benefits are unmatched by any other tea. Matcha tea is 10 times more powerful than regular green tea. That’s right; 10 times! It’s really high in antioxidants, making it a great addition to a good diet and exercise program. It promotes calm, yet people use it as an alternative to coffee because it enhances clarity and focus. That being said, it’ll never give you the jitteriness that coffee can. It naturally contains caffeine, but the boost in energy is thanks to many of the other great ingredients. It’s like a clean "buzz", if you like. You can improve your cholesterol, burn more calories, and detoxify your body too. It speeds up the metabolism like no other tea!
How to Prepare Matcha Tea
Preparing matcha tea isn’t too complicated, but it’s different to other tea. You can use a small scoop to get a small amount of powder in your cup. You don’t need much at all to brew a nice cup of matcha. Then you want to use nearly boiling water; not boiling, as that will impair the benefits and flavour of the tea! Pour a small amount of water into your cup, and make a paste. At this point, you could even use a matcha whisk to get out any lumps and bumps. If you don’t do this, your tea powder can clump at the bottom. Then you can pour the rest of your water in the tea. Some like to use a small electric whisk to froth up the tea. You can even add a little coconut or almond milk to make a matcha latte if you like!
What Else You Can Do With Matcha
You can add matcha powder to anything you bake, smoothies, and more. It’ll still give you the benefits! View http://www.amazon.ca/Matcha-Green-Tea-Powder-Culinary/dp/B00DDT116M for more information!
How to Know if Your Matcha is Quality
Your matcha tea is quality when it’s a bright green colour. The brighter the green, the better the tea!
Will you give matcha tea a go?
